The Orb of Wrath The Merchant Destiny Book 1 edition by Nic Weissman Children eBooks

This is probably one of the best fantasy books that I have ever read. It had freaking dragons in it and if a book has a dragon in it then I'm in love. Also that cover is so gorgeous, it definitely caught my eye and made me want to read it.

I really liked the characters and thought they each brought a lot to the table. It was really fun reading the adventures that the characters took in this story. This world was quite dangerous, it had dragons in it for crying out loud-and I loved it. Erion was my favorite character and he had some of my favorite scenes.

I like fantasy books because they are usually the most creative and this book is no different. Weissman has created a fun, dangerous, creative world that everyone will want to live in-dragons, vampires, elves and all. Though I'm not sure I could handle the giant spiders, no thanks.

If I had to find something to complain about it would probably be the character names. They were unique and different but sometimes that confused me. I kept forgetting who was who and that took a little away from the story. So obviously I recommend this book to anyone that enjoys fantasy novels.

The Orb of Wrath The Merchant Destiny Book 1 edition by Nic Weissman Children eBooks Reviews

The Orb of Wrath is a compelling, well-written and meticulously crafted epic fantasy novel.

Teenage Erion and his “brother” Mithir are often sought out by rich and powerful men for their cunning and special talents. Their precarious assignments are usually laced with a good amount of uncertainty and risk. For one particularly dangerous mission, Erion and Mithir were tested along with a Knight, a magician and an elf, to see if their combined abilities would be sufficient enough for the treacherous, but critical mission. The five of them proved to be an unbeatable team.  Their new assignment would include, breaking into a vampire's castle and stealing a treasured box that contained a highly valuable and secret item. The peculiar group’s journey would not be an easy one; it was swarming with unforeseen dangers, including dark caves and ravenous beastly monsters.

Nic Weissman has proven himself to be a gifted storyteller with a vivid imagination and world-building skills.

I would recommend The Orb of Wrath to any reader who enjoys epic young-adult fantasy novels, with a good vs. evil theme.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Author Nic Weissman is an exciting breath of fresh area in the world of Fantasy. It makes me ask “Why hasn’t he already been writing for Wizards of the Coast or Paizo?” The Orb of Wrath doesn’t waste any time getting you into a very fast-paced adventure in the spirit of R.A. Salvatore or Margaret Weis/Tracy Hickman with a foundation of an ancient foundation of a battle between Black and Silver Dragons!

Beginning in the Kingdom of Bor, a pseudo-European setting and leaping into a daring burglary in the style of Aspirin’s Hanse Shadowspawn or Leiber’s Grey Mouser and swiftly takes us into a mysterious patron of the burglar, a Commander’s philandering ways and an irrigation project that will upset the status quo of Bor. And then goes about assembling seemingly random protagonists together touring and end to a very sinister plot to dethrone the King!!

It’s readily apparent that Nic has participated in the world Role-Playing Gaming as his characters come together as stranger united against a common foe. This is his strength of purpose in the story and he handles the flow of events with aplomb. If he doesn’t have aspirations to write in a WotC or Pathfinder meliue, he should he should as he tops many of their contributors in the depths of his story, a true Picasso of wordsmithing.
Lovely book to read in a day. It was far better than expected. It does show that it's not professionally edited with some minor issue. The biggest ones being 'email' is used instead of mail and reference to a truck was made and this is in a fantasy world. Nothing detracts from the story though. Can't wait to read the next book 'The White Lady'.
The Orb of Wrath is a fun adventure book with lots of action, lots of emotions and surprises in every chapter. The writing style is really good and the characters are quite good.

The passing is quite steady and despite I have a hard time getting into the story once I get to the middle of it I couldn't put it down.

I liked that the author included many mythical creatures, we get to read about vampires, monsters and more. Each one comes to add more magic to the story.

Overall, is a good fantasy and if you like the genre you should add it to your TBR list.
The writing in this book is incredibly amateur, very predictable, and exceedingly boring. It is chock full of horrendous grammatical errors and unnecessary detail. At one point, the author spends seven pages simply explaining the set up of non plot essential training area. As to the grammar, I am usually fairly forgiving, but this goes far beyond the forgivable. Here are a few examples
"The spider's legs furiously went down upon him, but an invisible force prevented them to touch him, by barely a few fingers. The young man continued to sing, very concentrated."
"Among the fireball and this new spell, an unpleasant smell was beginning to be felt throughout the cave."
"By not having to dodge any ledge, his ascend was perfectly vertical, without deviating even once."

I would agree with another reviewer; the story does seem like a D&D campaign--one with a pedantic and log winded DM. In order for this book to be actually worth reading, it needs massive editing and a fair bit of revision.
